After 6 weeks of painting the 25 painting series “Looking Through Windows” is done.

If you live in the Sacramento area, please come and see the exhibit! It will be exhibited at the 20th Street Art Gallery. The exhibit will be on display November 11 – December 24, 2009. To see a preview of the exhibit, check out the gallery’s blog here.

I photographed all the paintings and turned them in yesterday.  While I was at the gallery, I received some postcards and my sample piece that I turned with my application for the exhibit.  That reminded me that I haven’t shared this yet —  here is my sample piece,  “Rooftops”,  oil on canvas paper:

To get ready for the exhibit, I put the images together in the order I would like them to hang on the wall.  I decided to order them based on color instead of when I completed them.  I think it looks nicer this way.  The five on the bottom will not hang in the exhibit initially, they are extras and will be hung as pieces sell from the exhibit. And thus they are my least favorites.  Here they are all together (click image to see larger):

It’s amazing what a person is capable of under stress.  If you remember my last update was titled “yikes!”.  At the end of week four I had less than half the paintings completed and in the last week and a half, I finished the rest.  Here are some larger, individual photos of my favorites that I haven’t already shared in previous posts:

Hello! The opening of the Storybook exhibit at 20th Street Art Gallery was tonight.  There will be another 2nd Saturday reception in December and the show ends December 20.

The exhibit looks great and I enjoyed the opening.  There are 50 artists in the show.  Each artist was given one sentence of Debra Keller’s short story titled “The Gift” and were asked to create 3 different representations of it. The gallery is showing the 3 paintings by each artist and selling books containing the story and one artwork by each artist. The book is nicely done and I think they did a good job selecting the pieces for the book.  I am very excited; this is the first time my work was published in a book! 🙂 The opening was really fun because many of the artists and the author were there to sign the books and chat.

My three paintings (the middle one made it in the book):

“I glided across the top of the fence careful not to stab my slippers.”

Happy Friday!

One of the fellow artists participating in the 50-50, Francisco Castro, created a page on his website dedicated to 50-50 and he asked all the artists to send him their personal favorites from their own 50-50 series. Not everyone has responded to his request yet, but a good number of the artists have and you can view the web page here.

Those of you living the Sacramento Area, please come out 2nd Saturday (April 12) to the reception from 6pm-9pm. It’s at the 20th Street Art Gallery, 911 20th Street between J & I Streets. It should be a really fun exhibit with 3500 pieces of art hanging on the gallery walls.

And for those of you who cannot make it to the exhibit, I will post some photos after the artist reception next week.
